The (new) IoT Community Awards
Since over 1 year now we are running the IoT Community Awards and I’m very happy and thankful for the progress it made. The IoT Community grew amazingly, the quality of topics, answers and articles is very high and well accepted. The number of open-source contribution grew and is proof that Cumulocity IoT is made for developers so it can be easily extended. That’s progress the whole community made. Again, a big thank you to all of you but especially the ones who could name them
now and received a nice goodie package to honor their contribution to the community. The leaderboard was often very mixed with members who repeatedly made it to the leaderboard we also had a lot of new users joining in and reaching one of the high desired top 10 position in the leaderboard.
Now it’s time to update the Community Awards to make it for all more exciting.
New Rating
First of all I will change the rating criteria. In the past I tried to honor all kind of contribution and community activity by re-calculating it in a comparable score. So users who are not active in the community but are contributing a lot of open-source stuff could it also make it to the leaderboard.
Now, I want to add a little bit more gamification by adding community challenges. If you complete a challenge you get the assigned number of points once. The users with the most points of each quarter will make it to the leaderboard and will be again awarded as IoT Community Champion!

Beginning with the refreshed Community Awards only the top 5 members with the most points will be awarded and recognized.

You might remember that we had very exclusive stuff for the last IoT Community Champions.
We will stick to some of them but will go away from the clothing to more fun & useful stuff. Here is a sneak preview:
The Challenges for Q2 2024
Here are the common challenges for the first and second quarter of 2024:
Provide 10 solutions to forum topics so they are accepted 
as an answer - 300500 points- Receive
2015
(likes) from others in the community - 100 points - Give
3015 (likes) to other posts or knowledge base articles - 100 points - Create 10 new topics in the forum (spam topics will not count and deleted
) - 200 points - Publish a knowledge base article about a Cumulocity IoT topic - 300 points
- Speak or co-speak in an published IoT Tech Talk / IoT Developer Event or Knowledge Exchange event - 500 points
- Contribute to an existing Cumulocity IoT open-source repo by adding an issue, creating a PR etc. - 200 points
- Attend an onsite IoT Hackathon
- 300 points - Create 15 replies on existing forum topics - 200 points
Special Challenges/Perks
In addition we add limited special challenges which follows the first come first serve pattern. Also, you can not only get points with them but also special bonus prizes sometimes. These challenges might be announced here or in other threads / articles. Here are some examples - so watch carefully when something new is published

Be the first who likes & comment a specific post / articles- Be the first who installed & used a component described in an article, send a screen as proof.
- Be the first who posted an article to a specific topic answering a specific question in detail
- Be the first who solves a tricky request & posting an answer to the thread
- Be the first SAG partner who answers a specific thread
- Be the first SAG customer who answers a specific thread
- many more…
Terms & Conditions
Everybody who is registered at the Tech Community and is part of the Cumulocity IoT group can attend. Organizational staff (mainly me) is excluded. Only content in the Cumulocity / IoT area will be counted. Scripting, spamming and using Bots will lead to disqualification from that program for the period of time.

What’s next?
By launching this article the challenges are activated and you can collect your points. End of each quarter I will publish a new article with the latest leader board honoring especially the new IoT Community Champions who made it to the top 5.
