Introduction
The Enhanced Data Point Explorer and Data Point Graph widgets are now available in preview, offering significant improvements to your data visualization experience in Cumulocity. These new features have been upgraded with modernized architecture and enhanced capabilities, enabling more efficient and intuitive data analysis. Along with the migrating from AngularJS to Angular, we’ve improved performance, refreshed the interface, and expanded configuration options.
These features aim to provide a more intuitive and efficient way to visualize and interact with your IoT data, enhancing operational decision-making and team collaboration.
Initially, these features are not included by default and must be installed as additional plugins.
Data Point Explorer
The Data Point Explorer now includes workspace (Data point configurations) functionality, allowing users to create and manage multiple workspaces for organizing their data analysis. These workspaces are stored locally and can be shared with other users, enabling seamless collaboration across teams. With an improved browsing and search experience, it’s now easier to locate specific data points, alarms, and events across connected devices.

- Dashboard-Linked Time Slider: When the widget is connected to the global time context, adjusting the time slider updates the time range across the entire dashboard, ensuring synchronized data views across multiple widgets.
- Visibility Controls: Simple click-to-toggle functionality allows users to show or hide data points, alarms, and events effortlessly.
- Expanded Configuration Options: Users can now control alarm icon visibility, overlay multiple measurements on a single graph axis, and customize graph styling for a more tailored experience.
- Usability Enhancements: Numerous minor improvements contribute to a smoother and more intuitive user experience.
These enhancements offer a more intuitive and powerful way to explore IoT data, improving efficiency and collaboration for users managing their deployments within Cumulocity.
Installation
To install the above plugins, please follow the below :

- Navigate to Cumulocity > Administration > Ecosystem > Applications.
- Locate your custom Cockpit application (or clone the standard Cockpit if you don’t have one):
- To clone Cockpit, click the three-dot menu next to the Cockpit application and select Clone.
- Open your custom/cloned Cockpit application.
- Go to the Plugins tab.
- Search for “Data Point Explorer” and “Widget: Data Point Graph”.
- Click Install for each plugin to add them to your application.
Once installed, these plugins will be available for use in your custom Cockpit application.
